Kathy Jennings ~ Healthy Body, Healthy Mind

“I embody what I teach. My own journey to well being led me from a professional life as a dancer/choreographer to becoming a Certified Trager Practitioner, an Authorized Continuum Movement Teacher and forever a dancer at heart. I learned early in my strenuous dance career the importance of breath, self care and self inquiry. Back in the 80s I introduced yoga to my college dance students, taught Pilates in the early 90’s and now still ahead of the curve, I am the only Continuum Movement Teacher in the whole Midwest! Also ahead of the curve is what we are creating here at PIH and I am grateful to be on staff sharing my interests with my co-workers and clients. I have experience working within a medical setting and also working my husband, Dr. Mark Hoch, who is also on staff at PIH. Since leaving the Arizona Center for Health and Medicine, we both have held the dream of working once again with like minded professionals who share the interest and hold the value of mind, body and spiritual healing. Besides offering one on one sessions at PIH, I also offer a monthly class called “Relaxation from Head to Toe” and weekend workshops throughout the year.

JEAN FREDERICK  RN

Nutitionist,

Personal Trainer

Jean has long been an advocate of lifestyle practices that determine personal well -being and abundant good health. A major threat to good health in this country is reflected in the rate at which various chronic diseases are growing. Over 70% of chronic disease in this country is largely related to lifestyle and unhealthy personal habits. The growth in heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, gout, and even certain cancers, can be strongly connected to lifestyle changes that have not been addressed and effectively modified. It isn’t a surprise that rich diets, lack of appropriate exercise use of tobacco products, excessive use of alcohol and caffeine, poorly managed life stress, and inadequate personal support systems, are clear examples of modifiable lifestyle issues that can potentially prevent and even reverse certain chronic disease conditions. The point is: WE HAVE THE ABILITY TO CHANGE!

Jean, the former owner and co -founder of ‘DIATIA’, a local medically directed weight loss and wellness Center, utilized her skills in health and weight management to help people take charge of their lives and achieve sustainable weight loss, improved health and wellness, and enhanced self -esteem. Following the National Institutes of Health (NIH) guidelines, she designed individualized programs for clients that involved a support team of Nurse Practitioners, Dietitians, Behavior Therapists, and Personal Trainers, to promote and reinforce the connection between healthy weight and quality of life.

Jean is a Registered Nurse, AFPA certified nutrition Counselor, and NDEITA, AFFA certified personal trainer. She is also a member of the American Society of Bariatric Physicians (ASBP). Having held wellness workshops and been involved with local community education programs, Jean has a wealth of experience and a natural love for sharing her knowledge and bringing support to help each client reach his/her goals and to achieve greater life balance and an improved sense of well -being.

“We have the ability to change through attention to sound nutrition and development of a healthy and self supporting lifestyle.”Jean Frederick, RN
